Prof. Dr. Matthias Rottmann is very proud to share that his doctoral student Martja Teiko Teye received the Best Student Paper Award at VISAPP2026 for her paper "FutrTrack: A Camera-LiDAR Fusion Transformer for 3D Multiple Object Tracking," co-authored by Ori Maoz.

The work proposes a transformer-based approach that tightly fuses camera and LiDAR data for robust 3D multi-object tracking, an important step toward more reliable perception systems for autonomous driving.

What makes this especially nice to see is that this result builds on Martha's earlier work, "LiDAR MOT-DETR: A LiDAR-based Two-Stage Transformer for 3D Multiple Object Tracking," which she presented at BMVC last year. Research progress rarely happens in a single step, and it’s wonderful to see ideas evolve and mature like this.
